TYPOGRAPHIC CAMPAIGN

TYPOGRAPHIC RESPONSE
FINAL YEAR PROJECT
THE CHALLENGE
Nominated for Best Speech Programme at the Radio Academy Awards in 2014, BBC Radio 4’s ongoing Short Cuts series is a showcase for delightful and adventurous short documentaries. Each week presenter Josie Long dives into a world of “true stories, brief encounters, radio adventures and found sound”, with each collection of recordings representing that episode’s theme. You are required to take one story from one episode of Short Cuts and transform it into experimental, experiential typography.
RESPONSE
I chose the podcast “Nature’ and chose to produce an anti whale captivity campaign. This campaign will be used with the animal rights organisation PETA. The main collection features up to a set of 5 posters which would also be used on new brochures and leaflets for PETA.
DELIVERABLES
A set of posters

PENGUIN STUDENT DESIGN 2020
THE CHALLENGE
We are looking for a cover design that is smart but accessible. It should not look like a textbook you read at school! This is a science book with popular appeal. If you can get your hands on a copy of the book in order to get a sense of the content and writing style, this will only help to inspire your design. The cover should feel timeless, confident and appeal to a whole new generation of readers.
RESPONSE
I designed a simple but engaging book cover for this competition brief. I decided to keep it simple but show a more hands on art approach. I wanted to take the obvious and then add the less obvious and merge the two. I used the simple earth concept but illustrated it with a style that the autor Bill Bryson is fond of. I then introduced other
illustrations of things you find in space.
DELIVERABLES
A book cover design.
